Blending impressionist influence with bold, Fauvist-inspired colour, my work explores the emotional depth of people through intuitive mark-making and vivid contrast.
Narsha Kang is an impressionist-style portrait and figure artist based in regional Victoria. Working primarily in oil pastel and charcoal, her practice is a meditation on capturing fleeting expressions, subtle gestures, and emotional nuance through bold colour and mark-making.
She first began drawing people by chance in 2022, and quickly discovered the quiet, therapeutic nature of the process. Without formal constraints, she allowed herself to explore freely — using the colour or medium felt right in the moment. This intuitive, emotional way of drawing became not only her artistic style but also a healing practice. Through it, Narsha found a deeper appreciation for the people around her — and for herself.
She began offering one-day art classes in Bendigo and surrounding areas to share the experience with other people. These sessions are designed to be joyful, therapeutic experiences that reconnect people with their creative selves. Her classes explore intuitive portraiture and expressive mark-making in a safe and welcoming environment.
Narsha is a member of Regional Arts Victoria and continues to develop her artistic voice through ongoing projects, commissions, and community workshops — sharing the creative process that once helped her, with others who might need it too.
